Walter's International Wax Museum- Exterior

This image of the Walter's International Wax Museum at the 1964/65 New York World's Fair shows an artists rendering of the exterior of the building. Walter's Wax Museum was basically the same wax museum as the Paris Spectacular Wax Museum from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. After the 1965 season, the museum received a new home down the street from Disneyland and was renamed the Wide World in Wax. However, that venture lasted just a short time before closing.

Walter's International Wax Museum- Robin and the Seven Hoods

Here's another shot from Walter's International Wax Museum at the 1964 New York World's Fair. This was a window scene that was accessible from outside the museum. It features a scene from the 1964 motion picture Robin and the Seven Hoods. We have the typical rat pack regulars as well as Bing Crosby and Barbara Rush.

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra playing pool, along with a girl in a cute little outfit.

This is supposed to be Sammy Davis JR, but the image makes his likeness difficult to make out.

Bing Crosby next to the girl. He looks sort of like Robin Williams if you ask me.

Barbara Rush stands near the wall with her long cigarette holder. I have never seen the movie, but this tableau makes want to.

Walter's International Wax Museum- LBJ

(1908-1973)

With the success of the Paris Spectacular Wax Museum at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, the Walters brothers brought their wax museum to the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. Here we see Lyndon B. Johnson in the Presidential section of the museum. John F. Kennedy helped break ground on the fair, but it was Johnson who would serve as president during the run of the exposition. The wax figure captures Johnson's usually "pleasant" disposition quite well.

A close up of the President. I can't tell if the figure makes him look upset, half asleep, drunk, or bored.
