Potter's Wax Museum- Henry V

(1386-1422)

The eldest son of King Henry IV, Henry V spent much of his reign in battle. His conquering of the French made him many enemies, but also made him a hero to his English citizens. They believed him to be a just and strong king. He died at the young age of thirty-five when he contracted an unknown sickness believed now to be dysentery.

News- Tonight Show Figures Sold

Anyone who has been watching the Tonight Show with Conan O'brien since its debut will know about the two wax figures the show purchased from the Hollywood Wax Museum auction. The wax likenesses of Tom Cruise and Henry Winkler (Fonzie) were used in many different sketches, and were eventually retired. They were sold as a pair on ebay for $3,050.08, with the proceeds going towards the troubled state of California.

The wax figure of Tom Cruise lays on a couch. They really put the figures through the ringer, having shot them out of a cannon 60 feet into the air.

Here's a shot of the Fonzie figure before all of the damage.

And the Tom Cruise figure when it was being auctioned off the first time.

Movieland Wax Museum- Queen Christina

In this shot, we see Greta Garbo and John Gilbert in a scene from the 1933 film, Queen Christina. Garbo is the queen of Sweden who has finally found love with the Spaniard Antonio (Gilbert). She eventually advocates her throne and leaves Sweden to be with him. However, not everything ends up roses when he is mortally wounded in a duel.

A closer shot of the two figures. Notice how the lighting makes the characters almost come to life.

And with the flash on, the scene looks far less dramatic.

A close up of the clapboard sign. The wax facts information is quite interesting. I'm still amazed when I hear how much these wardrobe pieces cost.

The set, which was basically a fireplace, sold at the Movieland auction for $170.
