Guinness World Records Museum- The Longest Necked Woman

Today we see a figure of the longest necked woman in the world. Well, an example of a Padaung woman in Burma. The longest recorded neck length is 15.75 inches. They use copper coils to stretch the neck to the desired length.

Another view of the woman shows the neck in proportion to the body.

The neck itself. Unlike many world's records, this is more of a traditional practice, and not one to acquire fame.

Madame Tussauds- Paul Newman

(1925-2008)

Yesterday we lost a very beloved member of Hollywood's elite. Paul Newman died from his battle with Cancer, and the Hollywood and sports communities are in mourning. Here we see a wax figure of the man, dressed in his racing gear. Newman loved the sport, and kept racing nearly to the end.

A close up of the man. He was one of those men who never seemed to age, and only in his later years did time catch up with him.

A straight shot of Newman. Most of his wax sculptures I have seen is of him and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This figure, highlights the man, not a character.

News- Quarterback Eli Manning Sneaks into Madame Tussaud's

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in New York City unveiled this week a new wax figure of football player Eli Manning. The Quarterback was on hand to reveal his figure. It looks somewhat like him, but the museum has done better jobs on other recent celebrities.

Mr. Manning only looks slightly happy to be here in this shot.

Sometimes the celebrity and figure wear the same outfit. Not this time.

The figure looks more like Manning in this shot, but there's still something not quite right.

Movieland Wax Museum- Perry Mason

Perry Mason grills a witness in this scene from the television show of the bearing the fictitious lawyers name. This wax figure of Raymond Burr details the later incarnation of the series, which aired as over 25 made for TV movies from 1985 through 1993.

Another view of the tableau which shows the witness. This actress is not supposed to be any particular person, but is credited in the museum as a female extra.

Is that a sincere look, or is this witness pulling the wool over our eyes?

The clapboard sign. You can tell this is a relatively new scene because of the lack of detail in the sign.

The Raymond Burr figure sold for $1200 at the Movieland auction. The female extra sold for only $250, and the the courtroom set sold for$350.

Walter's International Wax Museum- Robin and the Seven Hoods

Here's another shot from Walter's International Wax Museum at the 1964 New York World's Fair. This was a window scene that was accessible from outside the museum. It features a scene from the 1964 motion picture Robin and the Seven Hoods. We have the typical rat pack regulars as well as Bing Crosby and Barbara Rush.

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra playing pool, along with a girl in a cute little outfit.

This is supposed to be Sammy Davis JR, but the image makes his likeness difficult to make out.

Bing Crosby next to the girl. He looks sort of like Robin Williams if you ask me.

Barbara Rush stands near the wall with her long cigarette holder. I have never seen the movie, but this tableau makes want to.

Spirit of Monterey Wax Museum- The Ohlone

Here in the Spirit of Monterey Wax Museum we see a couple of Ohlone Indian girls stretching animal skin on a large rack. Behind them is a rather mysterious man. The Ohlone lived on the northern California coast years before the Spanish settled the land, and these skins and furs had many uses.

The strange man behind the tree. He looks rather menacing.

A darker shot to show what the scene looks like in reality. This is but a small part of a larger tableau that highlights early California life before and during the discovery.

Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf- Yao Ming

Today we have a post of the Chinese basketball player Yao Ming. He stands here just outside the entrance to the Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf. Ming is one of several figures used to lure guests into the popular San Francisco attraction, and his mere size is enough to bring many a look the museum's way.

A close up of the basketball star's face. This figure is wonderfully detailed, and it's expression really shouts Yao Ming!
